Incepted on December 31, 2021, the indexes are a powerful tool in helping us continue to build the business and investor case for why just business is better business. The Workers Leaders index concept takes the top 20% of Russell 1000 companies in ºù«Ӱҵ's annual ºù«Ӱҵ that are focused on their Workers. This index concept highlights the performance and impact of investing in companies that prioritize their workforces.

Our data set covers five key Worker Issues reflecting various aspects of the workforce, including whether companies conduct pay equity analyses, disclose workforce diversity data, offer paid time off, and provide paid parental leave, as well as the estimated percentage of workers making a living wage and CEO-to-median worker pay ratio. Worker Issues account for 44% of a company's score in our 2023 ºù«Ӱҵ of America's Most ºù«Ӱҵ Companies.

The Workforce Advancement Leaders index concept takes the top 20% of Russell 1000 companies in ºù«Ӱҵ's annual ºù«Ӱҵ that support workforce retention, advancement, and training. This concept highlights the performance and impact of investing in companies that prioritize upward mobility and the professional advancement of their workforces.

In this year's survey research, Americans identified Workforce Advancement as one of the top Issues companies should prioritize, and our data set tracks corporate performance on five data points: Average Hours of Training or Career Development Per Employee, Career Opportunities Rating, Tuition Reimbursement, Retention Rate, and Internal Hiring Rate. The Workforce Advancement Issue accounts for 7.1% of a company's score in our 2023 ºù«Ӱҵ of America's Most ºù«Ӱҵ Companies.

The Wages Leaders index concept takes the top 20% of Russell 1000 companies in ºù«Ӱҵ's annual ºù«Ӱҵ that pay a fair, living wage. This concept highlights the performance and impact of investing in companies that prioritize fair and equal pay that covers the basic financial needs of their workers.

Our data set covers seven key wage metrics encompassing 15 data points, capturing a company's commitment to pay equity, its estimated CEO-to-median worker pay ratio, its minimum wage disclosure, an estimate for the share of employees earning a living wage, and more. "Pays a fair, living wage" has consistently remained the single most important Issue in ºù«Ӱҵ Capital's annual survey research, and this year the Issue accounts for a significant 21.2% of a company's score in our 2023 ºù«Ӱҵ of America's Most ºù«Ӱҵ Companies.

In addition to ºù«Ӱҵ data, ºù«Ӱҵ Capital collects information on workforce demographics, pay equity, and DEI policies from companies in the Russell 1000. ºù«Ӱҵ Capital also leads programs and initiatives on DEI-related issues, including the CEO Blueprint for Racial Equity and the Corporate Racial Equity Tracker, driving further impact.
